BAPPENAS, ADB and TSAO Foundation Field Team Visit to the "Anggrek" Posyandu for Elderly People in Watugedug Hamlet, Guwosari Village, 11 February 2018

Yogyakarta Special Province, according to BPS (Central Statistics Agency) data issued in 2017, has the highest life expectancy (UHH) in Indonesia, which is 74.74 years. This of course affects the handling of the existence of the Elderly (Elderly) in the province of DIY. Based on this, in the context of formulating a national strategy regarding long-term care, a team consisting of representatives of the Ministry of PPN / BAPPENAS, Asian Development Bank (ADB) and TSAO Foundation for three days (October 9-11 2018) visited the DI Yogyakarta province to obtain input and explore programs. that have been / are being implemented by various institutions in connection with fostering the elderly. Within these 3 days the visit was trusted by SurveyMETER as an activity facilitator.

The first day, which took place at the BAPPEDA of Yogyakarta City, began the discussions with the local government namely the City Social Office, the City Health Office, the Provincial BKKBN and the Provincial Elderly Rengional Commission. In this discussion each delivered a program that had / was being implemented in conjunction with the Elderly. Then the team visited LKS Budhi Mulia, Pajangan Health Center and ended with a visit to YEU (YAKKUM EMERGENCY UNIT). Each visit produced knowledge about programs and activities carried out both from the local community as well as from the local governmet through the puskesmas.

The second day began with a visit to the Melati Social Organization, one of the social organizations that activates activities related to the development of the elderly (elderly care). The visit continued to Werda Hana Orphanage and ended by visiting the Memory Clinic at the Hospital. Dr. Sardjito. During a visit to the Memories clinic, in addition to the doctors, the team also discussed with volunteers from the Yogyakarta branch of Alzheimer's Indonesia. After visiting the three places, at the SurveyMETER office, the team held a discussion on the results of their visit for 2 days. The discussion began with presentation of the results of the study by SurveyMETER Executive Director Dr. Ir. N.W. Suriastini, M. Phil. and followed by a discussion of the points both from the results of the study and from the things found during the visit activity.

On the third day the first visit was carried out by visiting Healthy Citta / Elderly-Friendly Indonesia in Karet Village, Bantul, one of the activist organizations of elderly activities that received support from the Japanese AABC and CEFAS URINDO Center Study. After that the visit continued to Watugedug Hamlet, Guwosari Village. Watugedug is a SurveyMETER target village for the Elderly development program since 2015. The third day visit was ended by visiting Mugi Sanas BKL (Elderly Family Development) in Blendung Hamlet, Sleman DIY, one of the fostered BKLs from BKKBN Sleman Regency which is quite active in organizing activities for Mugi Waras (Elderly Family Development) in Blendung Hamlet, Sleman DIY elderly both in terms of care and empowerment activities of the elderly.

In a three day visit to several places in D.I Yogyakarta, it can be concluded that care for the elderly has been carried out in each element of government such as the Social Service through the Social Welfare Centre, the Health Service through the puskesmas and the elderly posyandu as well as the BKKBN through the Elderly Family Development (BKL).  Apart from the government, the public and the private sector have also been involved in elderly care. Therefore we need a container or activity that can integrate all these services. (AN)
